My wonderful friend and her awesome husband threw the funnest “Yacht Social Club” themed party over the weekend, and it was just so beautifully thought out and designed, I could NOT help but snap away with the camera. Continue reading
Bonjour, mes beaux amis!In the last ten years, Los Angeles has grown into its own right as a true culinary destination with never-ending choices of cuisine. Aside from our proud food truck heritage, LA has also become known for its food festivals, and the list of new summer festivals celebrating food keeps growing. There’s the Grilled Cheese Invitational, the LA Taco Festival, the LA Street Food Festival, and most recently the first annual FoodGPS Rib Festival. Continue reading
Bonjour, mes beaux amis! It’s that time again – DineLA’s Restaurant Week!! I cannot wait to check out a few old favorites who I haven’t visited in a long time, like AOC, Craft & Piccolo, and I’m also looking forward to checking out the newer kids on the block like Willie Jane, Night + Market, and The Wallace.
No matter what your dining-out budget, you can find some great deals during DineLA’s Restaurant Week. Continue reading
Bonjour, mes beaux amis! The weekend has been busy thus far with wedding things, decisions and fun stuff like TASTINGS! Even though I’ve been counting down to our wedding date in October, I don’t think I’ve shared that we are actually having a second reception in November closer to home in San Diego! So yes – it’s been double duty for us as far as planning is concerned… exhausting, chaotic but also ridiculously awesome and tremendously fun! Not to mention – we’ve gotten the chance to sit through TWO TASTINGS! Yeah, the wedding planning doesn’t suck. Continue reading
Bonjour, mes beaux amis!I hope you had a safe and fun holiday weekend like I did! I did, however, wake up feeling as lazy as my munchkin, Mr. Bingsley here… Mondays after holiday weekends are always sad to face (sad-face?), especially when I feel guilty about all of the delicious but less-than-healthy eats I’ve indulged in for the past couple of days. Continue reading
Bonjour, mes beaux amis!
If you’re here in the US, you are most likely gearing up for your 4th of July weekend, hopefully filled with plans of barbecues, outdoor fun, friends & family, and of course catching some fireworks somewhere. So to help you get through these last couple days before the holiday, I thought I’d share a couple exciting events happening here in Los Angeles, as well as a personal task that I’m adding to my ‘to-do’ list. That personal task may involve lots of hoop-jumping and most likely a number of LESS-than-likely scenarios, but hey – a girl can try!
First, here’s a list of some exciting happenings in Los Angeles during this holiday weekend! Continue reading
Bonjour, mes beaux amis!
I hope you had a wonderful weekend! My weekends always seem to go by too quickly, but I’ve started mentally enjoying Mondays a bit more as a day of transition and reflection from the weekend into the craziness of the week. Fortunately, my Mondays have recently become less hectic from go, and I definitely think it’s been a huge help to ease into the week as opposed to hitting the pavement fast-first.
This past weekend, I did some self-reflection about a number of things: Continue reading
Bonjour, mes beaux amis!!
The past week has been whirlwind for me with travel, introducing my parents to my parents-in-law, and finalizing more wedding details. Needless to say, life has been hectic recently. But there’s no feeling like finding a home away from home in another great city, and for me that city is Philadelphia! I have experienced some incredibly heartwarming and inspiring moments in Philly in between all the recent hectic times, and it’s those moments that have moved me to appreciate everything I have presently and the many blessings to come.
The best way to show my appreciation of those blessings is to share them with others – so, voilà! Continue reading
Bonjour, mes beaux amis!
I recently shared that I am just four months away from my wedding (eeeeeek!)!! In fact, I just got the call that my wedding dress has been shipped and is ready for me to pick up. And we all know what that means: that dreaded profane FOUR LETTER WORD…
However, I just read Continue reading
Bonjour, mes bons amis!
We finally made it to the weekend! It’s been quite a week – but what better way to relax than by getting in the mood for “the greatest two minutes in sports” with Kentucky-inspired cocktails, smoky southern BBQ and of course, a fancy big hat! (We really need more traditional occasions/reasons for wearing big hats like the Derby…)
Bourbon is a personal favorite of mine, so I enjoy watching the event with friends, pretending to be at Churchill Downs wearing a big hat of my own with a delicious bourbon cocktail in hand. Needless to say, I needed little convincing to share some of my own Derby inspirations.
- Trust a pro like Mrs. Lilien’s “Mrs. Julep” easy and Derby-ready mint julep recipe. While you’re at it, pick up her amazing Cocktail Swatchbook full of ideas for every occasion!
- Every trip to San Francisco, I enjoy a number of classic bourbon cocktails at this modern speakeasy – reservations and password required, however, cell phones and prowling strictly prohibited.
- You’re bound to find a tasty mint julep at Brooklyn’s Char No. 4, specializing in nothing but bourbon (and oddly, delicious cheese curds!).
- Find the perfect fancy big hat for that last minute Derby party or polo match at an online retailer like Hats in the Belfry or from Lexington, KY’s very own Polly Singer.
- If you’re looking for BBQ to complement your bourbon cocktail and big hat, here’s a national roundup of the best in the country.
- Great snack and app recipes for a Derby Party – direct from the horse’s mouth!
Finally, as old-school and traditional as the Kentucky Derby may be…
… today’s Kentucky Derby is anything but stuck in the past.
And I’m off!
Have a wonderful weekend, mes bons amis!!
