Taste Of What’s To Come

Bonjour, mes beaux amis!betty's pie whole, encinitas, california, desserts, personal pie, savory pie, wedding, weddings, planning, catering,The weekend has been busy thus far with wedding things, decisions and fun stuff like TASTINGS!  Even though I’ve been counting down to our wedding date in October, I don’t think I’ve shared that we are actually having a second reception in November closer to home in San Diego!  So yes – it’s been double duty for us as far as planning is concerned… exhausting, chaotic but also ridiculously awesome and tremendously fun!  Not to mention – we’ve gotten the chance to sit through TWO TASTINGS!  Yeah, the wedding planning doesn’t suck.

Today we got to preview our SD reception menu, and while I don’t want to give away all the secrets, I will tempt you with a few of the awesome photos!wedding, catering, tasting, appetizers, caprese, goat cheese, focaccia, vichyssoise, ahi poke, tuna, sushi, ideas, wedding, wedding planning, buckboard catering, san diego, eventWe really want our SD November reception to feel different from our east coast October reception.  So we opted for a combination of lighter California fare like ahi poke, caprese bites and goat cheese crostini with olive tapenade.  And lastly we selected the vicchyssoise, our fall weather comfort bite, which we hope everyone will love as much as we do.

And then…betty's pie whole, encinitas, california, desserts, personal pie, savory pie, wedding, weddings, planning, catering, apple crumblebetty's pie whole, encinitas, california, desserts, personal pie, savory pie, wedding, weddings, planning, catering, stawberry, rhubarbbetty's pie whole, encinitas, california, desserts, personal pie, savory pie, wedding, weddings, planning, catering, berry crumble… after our official menu tasting, we drove north into Encinitas, one of my favorite towns in North County of San Diego and just a few miles from where I grew up.  I always get so nostalgic when I’m back in San Diego – it’s changed so much since I’ve been gone, and yet somehow it magically stays the same.  But one huge change which I’m sure a lot of San Diegans have welcomed is the opening of Betty’s Pie Whole – pun intended.  (Why didn’t this little piece of heaven on earth didn’t exist when I lived in San Diego?!)

They’re not just about desserts here – they also make delicious savory pies.  We popped in for a small tasting of the apple crumble, key lime, peanut butter cup and sour cherry pie bites.  All four were just delectable – buttery crusts, fresh fruit flavors and pure want for more than just a bite.  We are now both looking for reasons to come back to visit Betty’s, including during every single future visit into San Diego.  Our next visit will include trying the savory pies – so look for us again, Betty, and your super friendly staff!

    • Awww thank you! I definitely thought about eloping, but with all of our relatives across country from each other, we knew we had to throw our two parties, and we’re having so much fun planning them! Hope you enjoy – and don’t be shy, I’d love to hear what you think of the plans!! 🙂 Bonjour!!
