Bonjour, mes beaux amis!!!!!
I’m baaaaaa-aaaack!!! I couldn’t stay away forever. I did lose about an entire year of having the time or energy to blog, but let’s just get back up and keep going as the saying goes, right?
So much has happened in the last twelve months, from good to bad to ugly and back to amazing and incredible and beautiful. C’est la vie, non? Chaos of all sorts that in the end sorts itself for better and for worse. I have learned to appreciate others, especially loves ones, and have learned that it was always the little things in life that mattered the most. Gone are the days of stressing out over the small things which always end up being frivolous and a waste of energy and most importantly, time. Instead, I entered 2014 with a profound respect for the most important things: love, friends and family and experiences.
So here’s a quick summary of my last twelve months so that everyone is caught up and we can officially keep going:
- Some Bad: My best friend, confidante and love of my life fell sick with the cancer, Testicular to be exact. He was diagnosed on his 37 birthday. The treatment was swift and potent, and he and I both could never thank the doctors, nurses and staff of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, as well as his oncologist Dr. Youram Nassir and his urologist Dr. Kia Michel, enough for their care and compassion. Watching those in medicine work so hard to treat and save the life of another human being is the definition of humbling. Hence, my refreshed life view and perspective. And my love is recovered and cancer-free today. What a difference a year makes.
- Some AMAZING and WONDERFUL: I married said love of my life at the Beverly Hills courthouse! Every time in say that out loud or in writing, I hear Oprah Winfrey’s character Sophia saying “I’s marry now!” a la The Color Purple. But it’s true – I married my personal hero, and I have never experienced such joy as devoting my love to him for the rest of our lives. He makes me work at being the best Me, helping me improve myself everyday. And after battling cancer and coming out stronger in the end, we decided we would never again take for granted the time we have – we’ll spend the rest of our days on this earth together.
- Some even MORE AMAZING AND CRAZY: We are now knee-deep in wedding plans for our October nuptials, not to mention a second small reception for the other coast of family. We decided to split the occasion since we couldn’t fathom the idea or swallow the cost of throwing a 500-guest wedding. So don’t be surprised if I blog about wedding fun, dreaded dieting or anything else that could be a great release of any likely bouts of craziness and frustration. But that’s nothing new, I suppose!
- And the IMPROBABLE but TRUE: I HAVE, however, maintained steady with my French courses throughout the last year!! I’ve learned so much, but what I’ve learned the most is how much more I have yet to learn!!! No wonder it’s best to learn another foreign language from a young age… But alas, I will not give up!! Je vais continuer jusque le fin!!!
Well, this should suffice as my ‘2014 Comeback,’ although I was never really gone. Just a bit preoccupied, dealing with the chaos of life. I am so very excited to be blogging again, and to share all the craziness in and out of my head once again with you!
It’s great to be back home – I missed you all!
Bonjour, mes beaux amis!!
